January 28, 2025
Good day, EPE Community.
This is a reminder that report cards were sent home with students last Friday. If you did not receive one, please check your child’s backpack. And, if it is not there, please contact the teacher directed and we can make sure you get one sent to you!
Also, scroll down a bit to learn how to add the EPE calendar to your own so you don’t miss any events. In the survey that many of you filled out you asked to have sports events added to the calendar too. We will do our best to make this happen! Thank you for the suggestion.

Our intermediate cluster class is selling Valentine’s Day cards. Use this link or click on the image below to place your order and send in money with your child. All funds go toward our cluster program and support different community experiences that our students go to over the course of the year.
On January 24, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a new law, Erin’s Law, into effect for all Illinois schools. Erin’s Law requires schools to provide age-appropriate sexual abuse prevention education for all students, Pre-K – 12, on an annual basis. In accordance with the state and federal law, all students in Pre-K through 12th grade will receive age-appropriate training from the District. The Office of Student Protections and Title IX has collaborated across a number of departments to create developmentally appropriate sessions that will allow students to identify abuse and empower them to report any wrong doing that may have occurred. The sessions have been broken down by PreK-3rd Grade and 4th-8th Grade and are around 30-45 minutes.
Edison Park teachers will be sharing the training with students between 2/5/2025 and 2/6/2025.
The Office of Student Protections and Title IX Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Student Training covers the following 5 learning objectives in developmentally appropriate language:
1. Students will understand CPS Title IX Policy and Discrimination Statement
2. Students will know who the Title IX Coordinator is, what OSP does, how to get in touch with OSP
3. Students will understand what constitutes sexual harassment
4. Students will be aware of the resources available to students who report sexual harassment or retaliation, including interim measures pending an investigation
5. Students will know what to do if they believe they or other students have been subjected to sexual harassment
This is an important learning opportunity for students to understand their body and how to protect themselves.
However, a parent/guardian may opt their child out of the training if they do not wish for them to participate by completing this form by Monday, February 3rd.
CPS has set forth protocols for schools to follow if ICE agents were to show up. We will be following those same protocols as all other schools. Here are two links you may find interesting if you need to learn more or if you are worried that your child would be impacted if they showed up to the school. Please reach out with any questions.

Add EPE’s Calendar to Your Personal Calendar: If you go to the school’s website and scroll down a little bit, you will find UPCOMING EVENTS on the left-hand side. We do our best to keep this as accurate as possible. If you click on SHOW CALENDAR below the events, it will bring you to the entire EPE calendar. In the top right corner, you will see little icons (see below). These icons can be used to add the calendar to your own.
Since there are so many phones/calendars/emails, I am not able to provide instructions on how to do this for all of them. Sorry!
