I want to share a brief update about school forms and using DocuSign. Earlier this week, we blasted out a link to the first contact of each student to complete school forms through DocuSign. There was an error so we voided all the access and RESENT it this morning. Unfortunately, we are only able to send it to one person and if you did not get it, check your SPAM or speak to your spouse to see if they got it. Sorry for this inconvenience.
We have two quick things for this week along with other important news below.
Story about EPE’s Sensory Room:
The company who helped us design our Imagination Station, Cannon Design, did a wonderful write up about the space and how it impacts students. Take a few minutes and learn more about our awesome space!
Fall Sports Registration:

What should my teen be able to do?
This is NOT only for those who have teenagers. Read this skill to learn about 42 life skills for teens and how we can get our 5-12 year olds ready for them. Kids can do a lot more than what we think they can! My kids have been doing their own laundry since they were in 4th grade.
After School Music Programs:
Hello Middle School Families,
This school year, students will have 3 opportunities to participate in our after school music programs: Advanced Modern Band, Stage Crew, and the musical Mary Poppins, Jr.
Please note the information below on each program. We hope your child is interested in auditioning/joining!
Advanced Modern Band
Middle school we want YOU to audition for our Advanced Modern Band!
Advanced Modern band is looking for middle school students have experience with the following instruments: Voice, Guitar, Bass, Keys, and Drums
Students wishing to be a member of Modern Band should already be proficient in their instrument and have the skills to practice outside of school. Auditions will be held September 10thright after school. The sign up sheet can be found outside the music room. Students auditioning for Advanced Modern Band should have a song prepared. If you are interested in auditioning for Modern Band but are unable to make the audition please reach out to Ms. Murphy ([email protected]).
Please note: not all who audition will be selected to join the Advanced Modern Band.

Stage Crew
Do you enjoy working behind the scenes? Are you interested in sound systems and lighting? Want to be part of EPE’s music productions but you don’t want to perform? Join Stage Crew!
Middle school students who are interested should get an application from Mr. Arvan. Applications will be due Friday, September 13.

Mary Poppins, Jr.
We are excited to offer another musical theatre opportunity again this year! 4th – 8th grade students can audition for a role in Mary Poppins Jr.
Auditions will be held after school the weeks of October 21 & 28. Rehearsals will begin January 6. Performance dates are April 29-May 2. Students in Advanced Modern Band and Stage Crew can also audition for the musical. More information to come from Mr. Arvan and Mrs. Tegtmeier regarding auditions and the rehearsal process for the musical. All who audition will be cast in the musical.

REPOST: Join the School Band:
Dear parents:
My name is Yaron Benyamini, and I will be returning to Edison Park School this year as director of bands. I also teach at six other schools in the Chicago area. Like most of you, I am looking forward to the upcoming school year!
The school band is starting up soon and I want to make sure you make music a part of your child’s life! As parents, you make decisions each day about what is best for your child, often with little or no concrete information or certain outcomes. With music, you can be sure that you are making the right decision for not just next year, but the rest of their lives. Study after study has shown that learning to play an instrument has tremendous benefits on our young people’s minds.
Your child will soon hear a demonstration concert of instruments and a flyer is attached that tells you how to join the school band! In the coming days we will be back to let your child try a couple of instruments and help them find a good fit. We will circle the instruments your child did best on.
To register your child, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Sign-up by September 11th for guaranteed instrument delivery on the first day of band class. It is best to sign-up AFTER your child has had the opportunity to try the instruments.

2. Have them watch the instrument demonstration videos.
3. Choose their instrument and register for band.
I know you have questions about where to get an instrument or what supplies your child will need. All of that can be found on the website.
Now it’s my turn to help you by helping your child. Sign them up for music, and I will help bring out a part of them you might not even know is there.

REPOST: Fitness Classes at EPE on Monday are starting soon!!
After School Fitness Classes at EPE on Mondays are starting 9/9/2024 with a Meet and Greet!! EPE has partnered with Anywhere Fitness to bring a General Fitness class for kids 10 and under and a Speed and Agility class for 10+ year olds at 2:50pm and an Adult Class offered at 2:50pm in the EPE multi-purpose room. Please see the attached flyer for more information about this awesome opportunity. You must register and create an account with the link below.
